The UNSPOKEN
LIterary journal
Up until recently, all I noticed was hate.
How people were always so rude to each other.
How people just find ways to hate one another.
How people are…people.
But today, I noticed love.
Love in the way my sister picks up items for a stranger that dropped something.
Love in the way you compliment your best friend.
Love in the way you notice the teeny tiniest thing about everyone and everything and make a note of it in your head and cherish it.
Love in the way you send relatable videos to your friends and say “us”.
Love in the way you want everything to be perfect for your family.
Love in the way of saying “happy holidays” to a stranger with a huge grin on your face.
Love in the way someone buys their partner flowers.
Love is so broad, it’s beautiful,
and I don’t think people realize that.
People have small brains but huge, huge hearts.
Love is all around us.
All you need to do is choose it.
Hate to Love
by Monica Ahadi
i might like you or whatever
i want to know what it is to be wanted by you.
i want you to feel able to share your thoughts with me and your feelings.
to be able to share a part of your brain with me,
a part of yourself with me.
because i want to and am ready to share
all of me
with you.
because when you look at me i got a fuzzy feeling inside
when you talk i cling to every word you say.
when you laugh i cant help to smile or laugh along
for your laugh is one of the most angelic harmonies i have ever heard.
your smile could warm me in the cold night.
you smile and outshine the brightest supernova.
you in general from what you've shown me is enough for me to fall for you everyday
and that scares me.
from your brown eyes to the
lightness of your hair
and the stupidness of your face.
i wish you would just kiss me or reject me.
i no longer yearn for anything else other than to be the object of your affection
the centre of your obsession.

“Love.” A word that I’ve heard multiple times, but never understood the true meaning of. I was never really fond of the way that my tongue would hit the roof of my mouth each time I attempted to say this word. The word almost felt foreign when I said it, like how you feel when you visit an unfamiliar country for the first time. Though, love isn’t the only word that’s unfamiliar to me, it’s also the phrase “I love you.” Whenever my mom would send me a text message saying these three words, I only ever replied back by liking the message, and watched as the pink heart popped out, as if it was trying to scare me.
There were many times that I tried to love someone, but all of them were complete failures. It was hard for me to tell if the way I felt for someone was interest, admiration or lust. The thought of being in love just scares me. How do I know that the person I want to love is someone I can trust? How do I know that they won’t leave me? These thoughts became unanswered questions that overflowed my head and left me bewildered. Why do people love?
As a girl in highschool, I’ve heard countless stories about couples with relationship issues, and it makes me wonder- is love even worth it? Although, just the thought of love itself feels awkward and misplaced in my head, its absence leaves a lingering void in my heart. Almost like a longing for something.
I used to think that love had to be something specific like a romance between two people, but I was wrong. I learned that there’s various types of love and love can be anything really. It can be the smell of your mom’s freshly baked cookies that she makes every few weeks, best friends sharing each other’s food and laughing together, two sisters finally doing each other’s makeup, or when someone looks at themselves in the mirror and finally starts to realize how pretty they look.
Although, I can’t guarantee that I’ll ever get to experience the type of love that all of the couples in the hallways have, but I’m still glad that I can at least experience other kinds of love. I may not ever be ready for love, but maybe that day will come.

In the quiet of a crowded room,
Their eyes meet, dispelling gloom.
A moment, frozen in air,
As if the universe paused to care.
Shy smiles exchanged, hearts flutter,
As they danced through the night, unbounded by clutter.
Words like melody, in rhythm and rhyme,
A harmony of love, in perfect time.
Through whispered secrets and shared dreams,
They forged a bond, stronger than it seems.
Two hearts entwined, a love chime,
In the alchemy of space and time.
With conversations deep, and laughter bright,
They found comfort throughout the night.
Two connecting, in a seamless line,
Embracing the magic of meeting for the first time.

Serendipity of love
the gift of a heart

Love, a word woven into the fabric of human existence, goes beyond convention and cultural differences. It is an emotion so profound that poets have attempted to capture its essence through verses, philosophers have researched its mysteries, and artists have painted its hues on the canvas of life. Love is a tapestry of emotions, an elusive force that defies definition and yet remains the heartbeat of our shared humanity.
At its core, love is a versatile and multifaceted emotion, revealing itself in countless forms. It is the warmth that shields us when we share laughter with cherished friends or the comforting embrace of family in times of need. Love is not confined to a singular feeling- rather than a singular emotion, it unfolds like a kaleidoscope of feelings, with each shade reflecting a distinct facet of the human experience. One of the most enchanting qualities of love is its ability to navigate the spectrum of human connections. It is not restricted to romantic entanglements; instead, it influences our interactions with friends, family, and even strangers. The love between siblings, the love for one's homeland, and the love for a passion or pursuit are all threads in the detailed tapestry of love that we weave throughout our lives.
Love is a silent language, spoken in the unspoken glances between two souls. It's the shared understanding that requires no words, the unspoken promises exchanged in a gaze, and the genuine connection that bridges the gap between hearts. In the smallest gestures, love finds its home – a comforting touch, a reassuring smile, or a listening ear that speaks volumes without uttering a word.
A word spoken with ease and etched into the pages of our lives, often carries a weight that transcends its expression. Love is a complex emotion, a profound force that weaves through the intricate fabric of our existence. Yet, amidst the casual proclamations and societal norms, there exists a bitter truth - the strength and meaning of the word "love" is not always fully understood. It is a word that is sometimes used casually, its depth overlooked, and its true power underestimated.
We often find ourselves uttering the word "love" without fully grasping its magnitude. It slips from our lips in moments of affection, in expressions of endearment, and even in casual conversation. Yet, within the simplicity of its expression, unfolds an intricate spectrum of emotions that invite reflection. Love is not a one-size-fits-all sentiment; rather, it takes on various forms, each carrying its own weight and significance.
Though love is not without its complexities, the true beauty of love lies in its resilience, its capacity to face horrid storms and emerge stronger on the other side. Love is not just the joyous moments but also the commitment to stand by each other when the skies are gray, to lend support in times of hardship, and to find solace in the shared journey.
In the tapestry of life, love is the golden thread that binds us all. It is the driving force behind acts of kindness, the motivation for selfless deeds, and the foundation upon which we build meaningful connections. Love is the essence that elevates our existence, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories and routine actions into extraordinary expressions of the heart.
In embracing the profound realization that love transcends mere linguistic expression, I've come to understand it as an intricate experience, an intense emotion, and an undeniable force that defines the very essence of our existence. Love unfolds as an uncharted territory of the heart, an ongoing journey that dynamically shapes our relationships, adds vibrant hues to our perceptions, and shows us an intense depth upon the entirety of the human experience. It is in this acknowledgment of love's multifaceted nature that we find the essence of our being continuously molded and enriched, forever engaged in the captivating journey of the heart.

The muscle in our hearts

And every arm around another
Keeping every loving touch alive

love is blind
blinder than blind
so close to your heart
your sweet heart be
so close and never apart
forever and ever
your valentine be
In the shadows, it finds its way,
Love's tender touch, a guiding ray.
Through storm and calm, it holds its sway,
In every step, come what may.
Blind to flaws, it sees the best,
In whispered vows, it finds its nest.
Through every trial, it stands the test,
In love's embrace, we find our rest.
So close, it feels like destiny's art,
Two souls entwined, never to part.
In every beat, it forms a chart,
Leading us home, where love restarts.
